How to select the appropriate weight when using polypropylene spunbond non-woven fabric as a weed barrier?

Polypropylene spunbond non-woven fabric, as the most commonly used landscape fabric and weed control fabric, not only can kill or inhibit the growth of weeds, but also has the characteristics of water permeability, air permeability and environmental friendliness. However, many people do not know how to select the appropriate non-woven fabric weight that meets their usage requirements. Here are some selection tips.

I. Usage Scenarios:

There are two conventional methods for using the weed control fabric. One is to lay it under the floor tiles or gravel, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight. In this case, a non-woven fabric weighing between 45g and 80g is recommended, as it has a low weight, low cost, is soft and convenient for construction, and can meet the usage requirements. The other method is to lay it directly on the ground surface, which is exposed to sunlight for a long time. Under this condition, we recommend using a non-woven fabric weighing between 100g and 130g. Non-woven fabrics weighing 100g or more have a shading rate of over 95%, providing excellent weed control effects.

II. Usage Time:

The usage time of the weed control fabric will vary depending on the different application methods. However, regardless of the method, the higher the weight, the longer the relative usage time will be. For those that require long-term use, appropriate amounts of anti-aging agent (UV) can be added.

In addition, the color of the non-woven fabric also affects its usage time. Black is the weed control fabric with the longest usage time. The lighter the color, the shorter the relative usage time will be.

III. Usage Cost:

The higher the weight of the non-woven fabric, the higher the relative cost will be. If the usage period is longer, the cost will also increase.
